COLLECTIBLE Three Questions To — Crina Architecture
(Vignette supported by Farrow & Ball)
October 2025
For COLLECTIBLE New York 2025, Farrow & Ball, the renowned British paint and wallpaper house, supported the Vignette section, bringing their distinctive palette and sensibility to the spaces imagined by our exhibitors. Their colors became more than backdrop — they shaped atmosphere, highlighted materiality, and infused each setting with depth and character.
We asked to our exhibitors three questions about their collaboration, their creative process, and the role of color in their work.
C: Which Farrow & Ball shade did you choose, and how did it shape your creative vision?
Crina Architecture: We selected Farrow & Ball’s Off-Black for our booth at this year’s edition of Collectible. Black is always in fashion in our book. It is timeless, bold, and effortlessly elegant. It proved to be the perfect backdrop for our installation, Collector’s Hedonist’s Stage. The deep hue amplified the interplay of material and colors of our pieces from the electric blue Brutalist Chairs to the blackened gauged oak Forest of Ink Bookshelves, elevating the immersive quality and visual intrigue within our curation.
C: What role does color play in your practice, and how did it come to life through this collaboration with Farrow & Ball?
CA: Color is central to our practice. The Off-Black walls allowed the architecture of the space to recede, giving our pieces the stage to truly stand out. We opted for the Off-Black over a pitch black to soften the atmosphere, creating depth and nuance rather than stark contrast.
Our pieces themselves ranged from dark, dramatic tones, our patinated cast bronze Through the Looking Glass Mirror, to vibrant accents of color: the citron yellow Raku Table, and rich cadmium red and prussian blue oil paintings by Claudia Doring Báez. Each hue was thoughtfully chosen to interact with the backdrop, coalescing as a cinematic environment where sculptural pieces, reflective surfaces, and rich materiality come together to engage and enchant spectators.
C: What has been the most rewarding or impactful part of your COLLECTIBLE New York 2025 experience?
CA: It is always inspiring to witness the thoughtful curation and exceptional selection of designers, galleries, and artists brought together by the Collectible team, and to connect with so many engaging and passionate voices within the design community. A highlight this year was participating in the Collectible in Context panel moderated by Lila Allen. Sharing the stage with fellow designers Michael Hilal, Drew McGukin, and Emily Thurman, made for an energetic and thought-provoking dialogue, reflecting the vision and spirit of Collectible.
