Three questions to
Everyday Gallery
25 May 2021
Each week, Kristen de La Vallière, design curator, editor and founder of say hi to_, asks three questions to our participants. Today Kristen talks with Boris Devis founder of Everyday Gallery.
Kristen de la Vallière: 2020-2021 has been full of changes for the contemporary art and furniture industry. We often focus on the negatives of those, but we think it could be a very exciting time to see all of the positive changes it may have brought about. What do you think the future of collecting and exhibitions looks like?
Boris Devis: The awareness of the importance of the domestic environment really served as a catalyst for the art and furniture industry. Add to that the confidence and comfort that comes with increased online shopping makes that a whole new audience is ready to discover and buy new pieces
“Collectible also offers the collector the ideal platform to discover, compare and learn about new pieces and designers. It’s our job to stand out.”
KdlV: What advice would you give to those looking to start their functional art collection?
BD: Not only buy what you think you like or need, but also dare to purchase a piece from an artist or a gallery that intrigues you and you‘d like to support what they can stand for.
KdlV: How are events like COLLECTIBLE important for functional artists, galleries and collectors?
BD: Collectible creates an army of galleries and designers which facilitates fighting for the attention of the press and the collector. Collectible also offers the collector the ideal platform to discover, compare and learn about new pieces and designers. It’s our job to stand out.
